Central Laptop Program for All Schools

Expand the Laptop Loan Program to all University of Michigan students to relieve them of financial distress or a decline in academic progress due to a lack of equipment. This is an LSA program that allows students with Financial Need to receive a macbook to use while enrolled in classes and potentially purchase it at a lower cost (considering the depreciation value) when unenrolled.

Transfer Students Acceptance into Student Organization

Some student orgs on campus have a no junior/senior policy, to encourage four years involvement. However, this is restrictive to transfer students, who are coming to campus with fewer social connections. We will work with student orgs to allow exceptions for transfer students to be admitted.

Socio-Economic Affirmative Action

Work with the University to implement socio-economic based affirmative action for admissions (this would not be unconstitutional due to the passage of Michigan’s 2002 Proposal 2, which banned race and gender based affirmative action). To make an environment friendlier to low socio-economic individuals, make the environment contain more low SES individuals.
