Housing, Buildings, and Infrastructure Policies

Expanding Student Access to all University Buildings

Work to increase the building hours and building areas all University of Michigan students have access to via their MCards, from the Law School basement to the Ross top floors.

Provide Information on Housing and Landlords

Create a University system for student lease submission in order to rate the leases for provisions, provide students with rent comparisons, and give a history of bad landlords.

Bring Back and Fund the Ann Arbor Tenants Union

Reinstate the funding of the Student Tenants Union to protect students from predatory or bad landlords, which was cut from CSG’s budget in the mid-2000’s.

Renovate Bathrooms in the Dude, Chem Building, and MLB

Fund the renovation of the Dude, Chem, and MLB basement bathrooms, some of which don’t have bathroom stall doors. While the University has spent billions modernizing many buildings on campus, these buildings have been ignored and desperately need attention.

Install Crossing Light at CCTC and Pierpont Commons Crossing

Alter the six-day rule to extend the number of visits students can take to at least twelve in order to adequately determine the next steps in resolving mental health issues with counseling.

Advocate a Formal Relationship Between the University and the ICC

Create a more formalized system for a relationship between the co-ops and the University to serve these students in a way similar to the students participating in Greek life.
