Democratic Access Policies
Election Day Accessibility
Work with University administration to make election day a University holiday, canceling all classes and University activities to ensure that every Michigan student is able to vote on November 3rd, 2020; one of the most important elections in our lifetimes.
Expand Buses to the Polls for 2020
Continue and expand the buses to the polls program from 2016 for the 2020 election, by increasing the area of transportation to all of Southeast Michigan.
University Absentee Ballot Request
Create a University-wide system which can mass request absentee ballots by state, streamlining the process and doing the burdensome paperwork on behalf of the students which have requested an absentee ballot. Absentee voting is the means by which a majority of University students are able to vote while the current strategy to increase voter turnout focuses on increasing in person voting.
NY Times, Washington Post, and WSJ Student Subscription
Purchase a subscription to the websites and apps for at least three news sources to be accessible via umich.edu login. Informing students on current events is incredibly important, especially with the upcoming election. This is done by several other student governments and was previously done by CSG with a subscription to the NY Times.
