Engineering Candidates

Carla Voigt

Carla Voigt is a sophomore pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Ross School of Business minor. She joined CSG last year and has since served as the ABTS Liaison for the University of Michigan and the Vice Chair of the Rules Committee. She is also involved in an engineering sorority, Phi Rho, and is a member of MSTEM. Carla is passionate about women’s issues, mental health, and sustainability. She plans to continue her work from the previous school year, which included the expansion of mental health resources especially to North Campus, free feminine hygiene products in campus facilities, and the reduction of light pollution and plastic waste on campus. Cole Ammerman is a sophomore civil engineering student who also plans to minor in computer science. His time on campus has been spent with groups such as oSTEM and Bronze Elegance which both celebrate differences among people and challenge their participants to take action toward improving how we handle diversity and inclusion on campus. In his spare time he can be found at MDraw or the Michigan Backpacking Club as he loves the arts and the outdoors. Cole is excited by the possibility of working with CSG to improve the lives of all students on campus by promoting the use of healthy outlets to deal with the stresses of college life. He plans to impact his community positively and with open ears because he knows that everyone’s ideas deserve to be considered equally!

Jacob Tanner

Jacob Tanner is a junior mechanical engineering student with a minor in entrepreneurship. He has spent time on campus promoting diversity and inclusion in several ways, including time spent helping as part of oSTEM and establishing Delta Lambda Phi. When he has time, he enjoys going for runs around campus as well as working out at the university gyms. If elected, Jacob looks forward to advancing diversity and inclusion within engineering, providing more options for tutoring in the large, difficult classes, expanding mental health resources to North campus, and so much more!

Shub Argha

Shubhashish, better known as “Shub,” is a sophomore studying Electrical Engineering. Originally from Bangladesh, Shub grew up in the “best city in the world,” NYC. On campus, he is a member of Michigan Political Consulting, working on political analysis and strategic consulting for Congressional candidates. As well, he is a team member of MASA Avionics and a brother in TDX. If elected, Shub wants to work on decreasing the use of single-use water bottles on campus, working to get the University to become carbon neutral by 2030, and improving mental health resources for students.

Ilhan Onder

Ilhan Onder is a sophomore double majoring in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Physics. Ilhan works as a student staff member at the Office of Student Conflict Resolution, serves on the Sexual Misconduct Policy Student Advisory Board, and is a member of M-STEM. Outside of school, Ilhan enjoys rock climbing, playing the piano, and engaging in dialogue with fellow students. If elected, Ilhan is excited to leverage his experience working with University administration to “flip the script” of the existing power structure on campus to focus on student needs as opposed to administration desires. Specifically, Ilhan is passionate about social justice, mental health concerns on campus, and holding administration accountable to communicating information to the campus community quickly and reliably.
