Sustainability Policies
Expand Compostable Bins on Campus
Purchase at least one hundred more compostable materials bins, and distribute them throughout the campus to encourage students to compost.
Decrease Plastic Water Bottle Use on Campus
Work with the University cafes and private-vendors to reduce/eliminate single use water bottles from being sold in campus stores, and offer reusable water bottles instead.
Shut Off Big House Lights at Night
Work with the University to shut off the Big House lights except when the stadium is in use to decrease the amount of energy being used and the light pollution being created.
Returnable Bottle Service
Create a returnables bottle service pickup which encourages students to sort their returnable bottles and deposit them in one of several convenient locations on campus. Work with members of the homeless community that currently dumpster dive for returnables in order to make money to collect the returnables from the bottle drop locations for returning.
Location to Buy and Sell Furniture
Create a place for students that are graduating and moving out to connect with students that are moving into off-campus, unfurnished housing to provide students with low priced furniture and discourage graduating students from putting their used furniture on the curb to be thrown away upon move out.
